Children

Our children and youth are active in our church and our commitment to them is important to us!  Our children and youth are integral to the present and future of Asbury!  Go to the youth page to find out more about Asbury's United Methodist Youth Fellowship!

Children’s Church is a worship and activity time planned for children ages 4 thru 3rd grade following the Children’s time on Sunday mornings. A variety of experiences is provided with stories, prayer, games, singing, and crafts and worship. The purpose of this program is to give each child a greater love for Bible stories and to experience the love of God and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Activity folders are age appropriate and available in either narthex for children ages 4 thru 3rd grade. Each folder contains a book, activity sheets, crayons and pencils, and is to be returned at the end of each worship service.

Discovery Kids
is for children in grades K - 5th. They meet the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month from 5:30 to 7 PM during the school year, for arts and crafts, learning activities and some mission projects. Children are asked to bring a bag supper.

Vacation Bible School
 - Each summer, Asbury holds a week-long Vacation Bible School for children ages 4 through 5th grade. The program is traditionally held one week in July in the morning. Children explore their faith through Bible lessons, arts and crafts, music, and more. VBS registration is open to church and community children.

A Nursery is available during all worship services in Room 205. It is staffed by a regular paid attendant, Meredith Rose, and a team of rotating volunteers. Participants are asked to have the same adult sign in and sign out their child. A beeper is also available upon request.

Camp Overlook - Asbury has joined with other area United Methodist Churches in establishing a setting that provides Christian life experiences for youth, children and adults at nearby Camp Overlook. Whether in a weekend retreat, church picnic, family camping, or summer camp, individuals grow in Christian fellowship through a variety of educational, fun, and worshipful experiences.  Camp Overlook offers special programs for many interests and needs, as well as providing a setting for our own retreats and programs.  For more information, please contact:  Managing Director, 3014 Camp Overlook Lane, Keezletown, VA 22832, 1-540-269-2267.
